Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

New reorg comming for north America. Get ready for it.

I was told by our manager a reorg is comming by the end of the year. We were told some of us were moving to another site. This reorg is supposed to cut costs by reducing redundant positions. There is no talk of layoffs but movement of personnel to optimize operations. I believe it is another way of forcing more employees to leave or retire. I will retire instead of changing positions.

@dp you never saw the technical future of what they want did you?

They want to have operators walking around wearing google glasses, getting advice from india and wherever else. Documents, drawings, polaris, all in one.

No knowledge necessary to be an operator.

Make it a minimum wage job.

Glad I’m just a “d-mb” operator at a site watching all these level that used to be CL30 potential hit the wall at CL27. A few of you might make decent operators. They can’t KLTC sites at the field because of the unions. To be fair, this may be the best thing to happen to a lot of you and I hope you land into something better. Regardless, if you aren’t turning a valve, AI and India are coming.

Part of this is a restack and the other is the opportunity to remove a few chairs when the music stops.

Yes I meant USA changes specifically. The reorg will affect US based employees. We were told to report to the EMHC campus instead of WFH or field locations. It is just another way to make us go up to spring to show our faces. Other work includes training and working with visiting indian engineers in the field and at the plants.

Home based employees have already gotten a DFO to get to HQ and we've closed most field offices in U/S, not sure what else is left to relocate in US.

Canada is a big part of North America so this has already started.

Darren mentioned they were looking at operations in the video so no real surprise. If I'm in operations I'm weighing my options now instead of waiting

Is this different than the IOL reorg? You say North America but do you mean specifically USA?

I’m in uncon and knew about this. Unfortunately this is part of the culture. Got to keep the chaos going to hide the gaps and wastefulness. Reason 2 million on I can’t wait to go. All I have to say is the money isn’t made in Houston or the midland office. Or even Georgetown. Should be supporting all the people working at the assets and helping those who support those folks from raises to the best tech. Provide real
Leadership to provide a work experience second to none and to give back to our communities and country.

The perfect timing to make all these reorgs is either right before the Thanksgiving Holiday or before Christmas break. That's what this company has been doing for like forever.
