That seems to be specific to UK as there isn’t such thing in the US.
It likely depends on what country you reside in. Can you share specifics? Some citizens reside in countries which have the equivalent of a worker’s union backing them. Other places, you alone can hire a highly specialized attorney that isn’t already working against you at the company that laid you off to review your agreement before you sign it.
