In IT and want that package

If i stop showing up in the office, how long will it take to get a package? My situation is i have enough money to retire. I can't stand sitting in the office with the freak show there. If i stop going can they fire me, or will then default to writing me up and then PIP and then give me a package. My package is worth like 6 months, so i want it. I fu--ing hate working at this place so bad. Its painful working here.

@ej What's required to get that approved?

I went on short term disability for a valid medical issue and came back to the group with a mid-year review of IM. Previous to that I was a Meets. So I called the managers bluff and applied for another disability leave which Mangers get emails of from Lincoln Financial to the fact. I was approved for 50% reduction in work hours. Shortly after that I got a Teams message from my boss asking if I had "a second". I got a severance package and never looked back. It's definitely a song and dance that has to be played, don't settle for anything less from a company that is stringing you along!

Take the 25 weeks of short term disability for your mental health, and hope that your position is eliminated while you’re away.

They don't want to pay severance. They want us to quit or fire us. They should put something on Teamworks encouraging employees to resign.

The word is you’ll get a talking to, PIP and then fired. They’re not gonna give you a package. This is by design so they get compliance and don’t have to pay severance

There is an art of "quietly quitting". You do enough to retain your sanity and not get into too much trouble. You don't want to get a PIP and/or get fired. But you do want to get on the naughty list.

Same hate it but I can’t afford to have a gap insurance/job loss. So I put my music in my ear buds or a positive podcast when I can between conference calls (with no one in my office). In fact I know very few people. No one even looks up to smile. Its sad but fight them forcing you to get fired or quit.

@OP I've been praying for the package for well over a year. I will get the full ticket if it happens which would push me into retirement. Good luck to both of us and all others in the same boat.

You won't get that gold ticket, you will be PIP/misconduct out.

The entire point of the RTO sh-t is to not pay people severance, either through attrition or setting up reasons to fire for cause. Best you can do is continue to half a-s it

Wish they'd just man the fu-k up and get with the buyouts already. They're never going to hit their attrition targets in the sh-t job market we've got going these days, they're going to have to go this way eventually, just a question of how many potentially hard working people they're going to alienate before accepting reality
