Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Any oil&gas company doing good nowadays?

Is it bleak across the board or are there pockets of good somewhere?

@OP Depends what you mean by “good.”

For the shareholders? Absolutely. For employees? Not so much.

@a6
You may want to look at some of the news dropping about Q3. Expectation is a boost due to refining margins

@OP No Pockets of good in Texas. Too many new headwinds. RRC costs more to pay off, lack of finance, diminished opportunity due to mature plays, diminished quality of labor in post Covid America, increasing costs, diminished product prices and growing hate of the industry fueled by ideas about climate change.

I don’t think the 3Q results will be all that different.

Exxon Mobil (XOM) reported its Q2 2025 earnings on August 1, 2025. Here are the key highlights:
• Net earnings: $7.1 billion ($1.64 per share, diluted), down $631 million ($0.12 per share) from Q1 2025.
• Revenue: $81.5 billion in total revenues and other income ($79.5 billion in sales and other operating revenue).
• Cash flow: $11.5 billion from operating activities; $5.4 billion free cash flow.
• Capital expenditures: $6.3 billion.
• Production: 4.6 million barrels of oil equivalent per day, the highest Q2 output since the Exxon-Mobil merger, up 79,000 boe/d from Q1 2025.
• Other notes: Shareholder distributions totaled $9.2 billion, including $4.3 billion in dividends and $5.0 billion in share repurchases. The company declared a Q3 dividend of $0.99 per share.
