Skip Level Meeting

Friend just received a skip level meeting invite with a VP.

Should they be concerned?

Sometimes VPs do outreach to people who will not be impacted by an RIF preemptively to try to encourage them to stay. It’s disingenuous - they know who will be left doing the work of the impacted individuals. Source: my VP did this last year

Sometimes it's not about you, but your manager...choose what you say wisely. I mean..if you are in DDAT and your boss knows nothing about IT..you may want to let the VP know.

We have had step meetings in the past, it was just with our Manager, they skip your supervisor and its directly with your manager.

Not in my experience. It’s another executive exercise in pretending to care or getting information they should have gotten in preparation for end of year reviews (the boss of the skip level interviewee). In 25 years with CVS, I never saw any action taken on these types of interactions post-event. It’s another example of a dog and pony show.
