@ew paradoxically their push for security is causing this. I blame CSSAP process, it becomes more complicated every year. if you try to pass security review even a simple feature, it takes a year on average. it reached the point of absurdity and red tape when teams started actively dodging and ignoring it, thus pushing into production not verified features at all.

They give a lot of lip service to "security", but in practice pushing new product/new features always takes precedence. I predict many more security incidents will be revealed in the coming months.

(Bloomberg) -- Oracle Corp. is investigating hacks of numerous customers’ E-Business Suite applications following an extortion campaign targeting large organizations, according to two people familiar with the matter.

The company on Thursday told employees that they had discovered exploitation of known flaws in its product, for which it had offered patches in July, according to one of the people.

Rob Duhart, Oracle’s chief security officer, said in a statement that the company is “aware” some customers have received extortion emails and encouraged them to apply the latest security updates.

In a large swath of emails sent to executives at various companies, a group of hackers claimed on Monday to have breached Oracle’s E-Business Suite, which runs core business operations like financial, supply chain and customer relationship management.

In one case, they demanded a ransom of as much as $50 million, according to cybersecurity firm Halcyon, which is currently responding to the campaign. The hackers claim to be affiliated with an infamous ransomware outfit called Cl0p.

One of the people said that the flaws were the subject of a critical patch update advisory in July. In the advisory, Oracle warned customers to update their E-Business Suite with the patches.

Cl0p has previously targeted large companies with malware to lock their files and make ransom demands for their deletion. It was described by the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency in 2023 as “one of the largest phishing and malspam distributors worldwide,” estimating it to have compromised more than 3,000 organizations in the US and 8,000 globally.

Hyundai CEO publicly responds to immigration raid for the first time

This week, Hyundai CEO Jose Muñoz responded to the raid for the first time, detailing just how much of a setback the issue will be for the company.

"For the construction phase of the plants, you need to get specialized people. There are a lot of skills and equipment that you cannot find in the United States," Muñoz said from the sidelines during an automotive conference in Detroit, according to

Lawsuit says Musk's Tesla hires visa holders instead of Americans so it can pay less

..."The complaint said Tesla is dependent on holders of H-1B visas
, opens new tab for skilled workers, including in 2024 when it hired an estimated 1,355 visa holders while laying off more than 6,000 workers domestically, "the vast majority" believed to be U.S. citizens.
Tesla, based in Austin, Texas, did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The lawsuit was brought by software engineer Scott Taub and human resources specialist Sofia Brander, who said Tesla refused to hire them after learning they would not need sponsorship for employment, an indication they were U.S. citizens.
Taub said he was dissuaded from seeking one job after being told it was for "H1B only," and not invited to interview for a second job. Brander said Tesla wouldn't interview her for two jobs though she had twice been a contract employee."

About the Project

Alien: American Dream Denied spotlights the emotional journey of high-skilled, documented immigrants as they seek permanence in a country that benefits from their talent, but denies them a home.

America's competitive edge in science and technology depends heavily on high-skilled immigrants from around the world. Yet, while headlines inundate us with the challenges at America's borders, a different immigration issue has been unfolding within the country. The same talent that America depends on for continued success faces an uphill battle to remain as contributing residents.

The employment-based green card backlog has grown to 1.8 million people, and applicants from countries such as India face up to 195 years of waiting for green cards. Nearly 200,000 will likely die before they get out of the backlog. Over 250,000 minors risk deportation from the country they call home if they reach the age of 21 before their parents gain permanent residence.

Alien exposes the human toll of America’s dependence on high-skilled, legal immigrants and how the Indian immigrant community bears the heaviest burden. The film intimately follows five Indian high-skilled immigrants and their families as they build lives and families in this country in an uphill battle toward their American Dream...

The population of San Mateo County was 77,400 in 1930. By 1940, it had increased by 44% to 111,800, with no end in sight. San Mateo’s population was 19,403 in 1940.

Although many housing tracts had been proposed in San Mateo since the 1860s, most had not offered enough inducement to be called big successes in new home construction. Early on, a person was induced to come to San Mateo and look at a number of undeveloped lots. If he bought one or two, he then had to find an architect to design a house, and finally he hired someone to build it, or he built it himself.

The Depression stopped many banks from making construction loans. The houses were built with few frills and on a low budget. No mortgage was taken out. The Depression made lot buyers work with a pay-as-you-go attitude as money was tight and very little was floating around. A banker was the last resort for a homeowner. This attitude fostered slow development of the cities on the Peninsula.

David Bohannon was to change all of this. In the 1930s, the federal government began backing and guaranteeing home loans through the Federal Housing Administration. Bohannon began constructing houses in the early 1930s. He purchased a 540-acre site, called Belle Haven, in what is now East Palo Alto and began the first of 1,305 units for low- to moderate-income families. Costs of these units were around $6,000.

He then purchased the St. Cyr estate in the San Mateo area in the late ’30s and set his sights on a project that was to become the pattern of development on the vast vacant properties still available on the Peninsula.

The Burleigh H. Murray property south of San Mateo was called Beresford. Bohannon acquired 848 acres of the Murray property in 1940 and began planning its development. It called for monumental scales of construction unheard of at the time. He was to build a planned community of 5,000 low, rambling ranch-style houses priced between $5,000 and $6,000, well within the range of the average worker. These would be backed by the FHA, ensuring him of money to continue developing more homes. In addition to the houses, a shopping complex would be developed to supply the homeowners with whatever was needed. The shopping center was to be oriented for the increased car traffic that this new generation of buyers demanded.

Hillsdale No. 1 was started on Hacienda near 31st Avenue and contained 84 houses. Eight were sold immediately. On Oct. 4, 1941, a 15,000-square-foot Andrew Williams store was begun to serve the community developing west of El Camino Real. Due to brisk sales, another 100 homes had been begun earlier in 1941.

World War II began in December 1941 and public construction was almost completely halted. Bohannon began developing houses for the war effort. Thousands of units were needed due to the Bay defense plants, and Bohannon built houses in Napa County, Alameda County, Richmond and other cities. Three thousand homes were built by him during the war. Afterward, he announced Hillsdale No. 3 with another 300 houses would be started immediately. The 274-acre K.O. Grady Laurel Creek Stock Farm — near the county medical center on West 30th Avenue — was purchased in 1946. Hillsdale No. 4, extending north to 27th Avenue and west to Monterey Street, was begun in January 1947, followed by Nos. 5 and 6. The price had increased considerably, now in the $12,000 to $20,000 range. In addition to the new homes, more than 500 garden-style apartments were built on both sides of Hillsdale Boulevard.

To complete his overall plan for his development, a $600,000 store on his 42-acre site at Hillsdale was begun. The Mayfair Market (originally Andrew Williams) was remodeled and expanded, and more stores were begun to complement this supermarket. By 1970, the Hillsdale Shopping Center had more than 150 stores and was considered the finest shopping center on the Peninsula.

perfect shape and quality fabric
The fabric is smooth and soft; doesn’t pill, and kept its shape after several washes. I have bought 3 in each color because they’re such staples - casual every day wear with jeans, going out dressed up with jewellery and maxi skirts for evening, or under suits for work. Truly versatile.

That was the title of a LinkedIn message I received recently from someone just starting out in the Executive Assistant world. They asked: “What advice would you give to help me succeed?”

It stopped me in my tracks—in the best way. Because after 25 years in this field, from my roles at private and small companies to global powerhouses like Revlon and Spotify, I’ve of course gained a wealth of experience and knowledge that I didn’t have when I first started.

Here’s what I shared—and what I’d tell anyone new to this path:

✨ 1. Emotional Intelligence is EVERYTHING!
You’ll be juggling a thousand things, but the real magic lies in how you see people. Your ability to read the energy in a room, sense when something’s off, or adjust your tone in a tense moment will make you indispensable.

🔍 2. Don’t Just React—Anticipate.
At Revlon, I quickly learned that being “on top of things” wasn’t enough. The real value came from thinking three steps ahead: What’s coming up? What could go wrong? What does my executive not even know they need yet?

🧠 3. Stay Curious and Adaptable.
When I joined Spotify, I stepped into a tech-driven environment that challenged everything I thought I knew about pace, communication, and tools. It pushed me to learn fast—and keep learning. AI, automation, and new platforms are here to stay. Don’t fear them—embrace them. Let them handle the repetitive work so you can focus on what only you can do.

🤝 4. Relationships: Your Greatest Asset.
From assistants to execs to external vendors—you’ll interact with everyone. Trust and discretion aren’t just soft skills; they’re your currency. Build them slowly. Guard them carefully.

🎯 5. You’re Not “Just” an Assistant.
You’re a partner. Sometimes behind the scenes, but always just as important—right alongside leadership. A fixer. A confidant. You’ll hold confidential information, smooth over last-minute disasters, and occasionally even save the day. Don’t minimize that. Own it.

🌱 6. Be Kind to Yourself.
You won’t get everything right—and that’s okay. Most of the times, the best lessons I’ve learned came from mistakes. Perfection isn’t the goal. Progress and resilience are.

🙌 7. Celebrate Your Wins—Even the Quiet Ones.
That meeting that ran smoothly? The fire you put out before anyone even noticed? Those count. Often no one sees how much you do behind the scenes, so take a moment to recognize your own impact.

To the person who reached out, thank you! You’re stepping into a career that’s fast-paced, emotionally rich, and full of possibility. You will absolutely find your rhythm—and your confidence.

And to all the seasoned EAs out there reading this:
