I know some people lurk here who have left HCSC. If you put in 2 weeks notice, do they usually just let you go?

If you work for a competitor, generally they want you out that day.
As for the posters saying don't give notice, ignore and give two weeks UNLESS you believe the offer may be revoked before you start. In that case, delay until the last possible minute.
Otherwise, two weeks. You've got to look out for your reputation and there's always the possibility of boomeranging.
Adult up, leave on as good terms as possible.
Don’t give more than a day’s notice. Just leave. They don’t give us 2 weeks notice.
Former QA here, like others said its up to your area (and how much time you want to give). I notified my manager i'd be leaving in a little over two weeks and spent the remaining time training my team, complete my remaining tasks, and finish as much house keeping as I can.
I was a lead in a network business team, they asked me to stay the two weeks to help out the transition and finish some housekeeping stuff i never had the time to do.
Completely depends on the area you work in, and level of visibility you have to specific things/projects. I have seen a lot of people put in notice indicating they’re just looking to change careers and want time before they choose what’s next. In that situation standardly not asked to leave immediately.
How do they know if you have gone to a competitive company without you disclosing it?
Entirely up to your manage, unless you’re going to a competitor, in which case no. But you don’t have to tell them where you’re going, and shouldn’t.
If you go to a competitor they typically ask you to leave immediately and not work through the notice period. You get paid for the 2 weeks.
ex-Provider Service Analyst (Richardson) here, I had to stay and work both weeks.
I also have a friend who was in IT and he was asked to leave immediately, he was paid 2 weeks though. I think he was working on revenue systems and there was too much risks associated with his role so they let him go on the spot (I think him going to a competitor made this decision easier for them).
