New in office expectations stated for tech.
Don’t comply you’ll get fired. Pretty much it.
And the implied threat of we don’t we could go to 4 days in office.
F@@k this place.

you mean those "id--ts" who somehow hired in under no management and with no way to measure their performance?
yeah, sounds like a load of pigshit to me, and you happily wallow in it.
bootlicker.
Wrong. It's not a factor. Obviously.
A lot of what is driving this is id--ts not doing their work or coffee badging. Those abusing the flexibility ruined it for the rest of us.
@ab they pay us to get things done regardless of when or where. Sometimes that’s more than 8 hours sometimes it’s less. We’re exempt employees not clock punchers working on a call center or an assembly line. We traditionally didn’t have set hours and expected to be available whenever it was necessary. A lot of work is to accommodate India or other situations where the work has to be in the middle of the night or weekends. GFY
So how is this being tracked 8 hours in the office? if I leave just being in the office 7 hours 59 minutes will i be flagged?
I'm not in tech but like a lot of you,I work a disjointed schedule for wells' benefit. For years I've started my day at 6 to make accommodations for people in India and on the East Coast. After RTO started I kept doing this, taking calls early at home then commuting to Chandler once there was a break between calls to meet the badge in requirements for the day. Ironically enough that often meant I was commuting in to the office only after I'd finished my substantive collaborative work for the day.
This will no longer function with the 8 hours a day rule. If I continue to take early calls at home, when I commute in for the day I'll be starting the clock at zero. Meaning Wells would be stealing 1-2 hours a day in labor from me. Or I start getting up at 4-5 am to get my household squared away and arrive in Chandler in time to start talking early calls, which flat out isn't going to happen. That sounds like a recipe for burnout.
Going forward, I'll be working 8-5 local time. Given how dependent my coworkers are, especially in India, this is going to f*ck things up pretty significantly. I don't leadership really appreciate the degree to which workers use the flexibility they used to allow for the benefit of Wells Fargo, not just themselves.
@ac They grasp fine. They don't give a s__t.
We regularly work in the office for a half day or longer then go home to do things that can't happen until after the site is closed for business. The calls run into the early hours of the morning, then we turn around and work a full day with minimal or no sleep.
Technology Management from the bottom to the top know this. They have for decades. Just like many of our competitors. Management who has ZERO clue what the nuts and bolts of the job are by the way, operate under the illusion that "AI or Automation" will allow them to replace humans.
The cruelty is the point folks, wake up and smell the chaos. Congratulations to those who got the golden ticket today.
you are an hourly employee? they are paid per hour. as opposed to salaried employees, who are paid a flat rate regardless of hours worked.
I know missing that one day in second grade set you on a downward spiral from which you've never recovered so I hope this can help a little.
it must be miserable for you, to walk around so utterly d-mb all the time.
@ab imagine coming here just to lick boots. Why are you on here instead of working your 8 hours? What a loser.
Maybe it is hard for you to grasp but a lot of tech work cannot be started in until 9pm ET.
That means we start meetings at 9am ET, work 8 hours in office. Pick work back up at 9pm ET which can take several hours. Repeat. A full 8 hours in office, including travel time wiped out any free evening hours for general life activities before work resumes for night time implementations.
Work 8 hours a day for Technology??!!! How absurd!! I mean they pay you to work 8 hrs a day but …..
My team (in CLT) was also told this morning, 8 hours per day, 3 times per week. Please shoot me.
@a3 not hearsay. You just haven’t gotten the news yet. This was in an all hands today announced by a two down from Bridget.
I am in Tech and my manager just sent a follow-up email to clarify there will be reporting to confirm 8 hours in office, 3 days a week.
If you did not receive an email regarding 8 hours in office, x days a week, then there is no change (yet) for your team. If there documented evidence, playing with going against the mandate is a risky game.
It’s not hearsay. The message started rolling out last week.
Expectation is 8 hours a day in office three times a week. Non-compliance will be part of performance evaluations.
Don’t know how well that’s going to go over. With over half the tech team members being offshore, it’s a frequent occurrence to log in early to work with them since mornings are filled with the agile ceremonies. I’ll stick to my 3 days and 4 hours before I leave.
didn't see it, can't stay in the office for 8 hrs because of kid situation and early calls. Every time i go in there it looks like i walked into India and they all give me hate looks. If they want to lay off this old lady, i'll be sure and have my lawyers request their time in office tracking metrics. 8 is great and so will be the 8 billion dollar class action.
It’s nice only working 8 hours a day. No more logging in from home by me.
Still hearsay. You take the time to post but don't take the time to give any detail?
Was it an email to all of tech? Thought the whole company was going to 4 days in office in January regardless?
