Consolidating Leadership

There are rumors that DMOS5 and DFAB will become "one fab" but that's leaving a lot of us scratching our heads. Does this mean they will layoff at the fab manager, branch and section manager levels? What about supervisors and really - all of the org? How would it be possible to manage 3 factories combined (DMOS5 is 2 fabs already)? Sounds like a logistics nightmare.

@OP IT leadership needs to be consolidated with the shrinking organization. To optimize org performance with a smaller IT organization all non Technical managers should be released. There is no reason to have have so many people reporting to the to CIO.

@bk Mmm-kay. Meanwhile, we have VP/fab managers, directors, EE and PE branch managers, EE and PE module managers, EE and PE execution managers, and EE and PE tech supervisors. Anyone want to save some money and make us more competitive? Get rid of this ridiculous hierarchy. How in the world can TI be agile. Answer: it can't. Each one of these newly-titled, clueless buffoons sit in the same meetings. Why? To ensure they each have the same top-down-sourced answers.

Agree that consolidating different fabs is a problem, though. How can a manager manage something that (s)he has no details? Yep, get rid of the knowledgeable folks. Bottom 10%, Jack Kilby's a-s. He would set you straight.

Yunus, want to figure this out? Put the managers on the factory floor. If they can find it.

Eventually I believe so they can only keep of one fab manager, lead, supervisor etc per section. Transitions should start in the middle of December.

It’s not a rumor it’s official. Last wafer start for 150 at dfab is next month. They’ll combine to support 200mm and will be one fab

@OP - DFAB is being absorbed into DM5.

There are townhalls going on explaining the “basics” of how it will work, but your assumptions around management staffing appear to be accurate.

I work at dmos5. To this day we never truly consolidated dmos4 and multiple fab managers have tried but have all ultimately failed and let go, not to mention from the process side and also automation side. The fact is we will simply be doing triple the work load for three fabs and will sacrifice 5S standards and also sacrifice quality. Be prepared for scraps.
