The package states #14 that you will not receive severance until company assets are returned, and it also states that you will receive the box to return within 3 weeks AFTER your separation. That means no payout for 3-5 weeks? receive box, ship back, Oracle tracks and then release of Severance.
Are you ready for no $$ for that long? I wasnt.

@bj You seem to have a fixation with butt cheeks. Maybe some traumatic episode from your childhood?
@ez They can book the expense this year, even if paid next year. Not different from any other expense (booked when incurred regardless of when is paid.)
@fa You were based on an office subject to WARN because of the number of employees being laid off from that location.
You could delay return of your notebook until next calendar year to potentially reduce your tax burden. No need to guess. Just call HR to confirm if returning the laptop on January 1st is acceptable, and then see what they say 👮♂
I received box on 9/25, but separation date is 11/3. Seems like my case is different for whatever reason.
@et I would contact HR to find out. It is worth remembering that in the US severance is voluntary, thus the employer can establish any rules and restrictions they might desire. It is also worth remembering that they might wish to pay now to write of the costs in this quarter.
@OP Can I delay signing the termination agreement by few weeks to push the severance to next year ?
Separation date of 09/22. No return box yet. No response from Oracle to my state’s unemployment office inquiry regarding my pay or employment history… you’d think that these issues would be simple for a company who had these layoffs planned in advance and was able to shut you out within a half an hour after being laid off. Scary that they want to maintain and mine the world’s health data.
Severence gets paid out on payday. Maybe the next payday. I was separated on the 22nd, box is arriving Monday Sept 29 according to FedEx. Once they receive the stuff it's either next payday or the one after. Yeah, it's gonna be tight.
Separation date: Mon 9/22. Received the box on Wed 9/24. Asset Return Instructions (scan QR code on the paper in box to get instructions) says this:
If you are an exiting employee, please return your M&D return kit within five days of receiving it.
Not sure of the other implications of delaying, besides the delay in getting severance pay 🙄

@an Man I wish I could be certain delaying the equipment return would have held up my severance until next year! Well I did forgot to include the power cord, so maybe that will hold up payment instead. LOL
My boxes arrived on Wed. Sent the laptop and other cr@p back the same say. FedEx says it's already in O's possession. As to when the severance will arrive is anyone's guess.
I wondered if I could delay return of my notebook until next calendar year thinking that would delay my severance check until next year. Getting a lump sum this year on top of all these stock options makes for an AGI that will ki-l us on taxes!
