Thread regarding HCSC (Health Care Service Corporation) layoffs

Let’s Stop the Personal Attacks!

It seems that some people are using this forum to vent personal frustrations rather than to provide constructive feedback. Calling out individuals or departments in an attempt to damage reputations or careers is neither productive nor fair. If you have legitimate concerns about a leader or colleague, the appropriate channels are HR or Ethics & Compliance—not anonymous posts.

While I agree that some resources may not be performing at the level expected, it’s not accurate or fair to paint entire departments, such as IT, in a negative light. Many leaders are working under significant constraints—limited funding, strict policies, and the usual corporate red tape—that can make progress difficult. From my own interactions, I know at least one leader who is frequently criticized here genuinely cares about making improvements and increasing efficiency. It’s unfair for them to carry the blame alone.

That said, accountability is important at all levels. I’ve observed managers who don’t take their responsibilities seriously, ignore feedback, or fail to address concerns. This results in underperforming teams, outdated or conflicting policies, and unnecessary frustration. However, blaming leaders who are actively trying to make a difference only distracts from the real issues.

Before criticizing others, I encourage everyone to reflect on whether they themselves are meeting expectations and contributing fully. Constructive feedback and personal accountability will do far more to improve our workplace than anonymous negativity.

@OP, nice post, but I’m not sure what are you talking about,
Sharing a critical opinion about a department’s performance isn’t a personal attack - it’s called feedback. Same goes for holding execs accountable (journalists do it all the time).

Besides, I’m pretty sure the actual personal attacks don’t fly here. Mods don’t even let people name non-public folks, they are pretty rigorous about it.
In case you feel they missed something, you can always report it.

The HR and Ethics departments are there first and foremost to protect the company not its employees.

@OP Are you serious the amount of people that got laid off were undeserving of that lay off. On the other side the ones that should have gotten laid off are chilling in there jobs where they have no accountability because they kiss a-s of leadership or are nepotism or friends with said leaders. So please don’t even start with this narrative. The main basis of these lay offs were in no way performance based but $$ and vindictiveness based. So please HR go spew this cr-p in the official channels you are not welcome here. And if not HR I just feel sorry for you.

This band of butt clowns at the top deserve every bit of dragging they get. They tanked the company. No sympathy for their gross incompetence and mismanagement.

I know of a Director who has had multiple HR complaints against them. I still need therapy because of the trauma she caused. At least five people quit because of this Director. In order to give an explanation for their resignation. two of five (the highest performers) went to the VP above the Director to explain how the team was treated and what a terrible leader this person Guess what? That Director is still here, protected and safe and sound. This Director even gained another team under her as a result of these layoffs, so she gained even more power. No "appropriate channels" will ever give a rat's a-s, so you can put up with us venting here!

@OP are you new to HCSC? Do you know who is leading the ethics and compliance division? I have reported unethical actions so many times and nothing gets done. People who voice a concern or want to problem solved either get ostracized or punished. You really are naive. There is no safe space or person to voice concerns anymore. Those ethical leaders are gone.

People have the right to voice their frustration on here with whatever leader. It’s time to start calling out those leaders who aren’t good leaders at all. If it was possible to give feedback without retaliation and btw it’s not, then there would be healthier outlets and actual growth.

Instead they manipulate the results of the Blue Pulse survey, promote leaders who everyone knows is bad, and continue to ignore the people who do the day to day work. If you want people to act them directly, leaders should welcome actual open feedback and not hide behind their job titles. We understand the corporate red tape but for some that’s an excuse to not communicate.
