Thread regarding Accenture layoffs

Accenture Layoff - MD Level recent move on L1

Are there chances to be let go at MD level. Recently moved on L1 to the US. With the current visa situation and layoff news, seems a bit scary

Exactly.

"Sweet" says that ACN doesn't have a big issue with H-1Bs (5% is not a lot?). Then, add the L-1s (where there's no cap and weaker rules) and the thousands of jobs she's allowed to offshore (and pushed clients to do the same).

But, "nah, it's not a big concern at all".

"Accenture CEO Julie Sweet said H-1B visas are not a major concern for the company, noting that just 5% of its US workforce is on such visas."

BTW, 25% of L-1s (1 out of 4) are Indian nationals (over 70% of H-1Bs are Indian nationals, some years went all the way to 74%, so 3 out of 4).

The intracompany transfer L-1 visa (both L-1A and L-1B) is more abused than the H-1B by the companies. L-1 has no cap and no prevailing wage requirements (unlike H-1B). Accenture is one of the biggest offenders. ACN MDs have sponsored L-1A visas on a whim and fast-tracked the green card process (6-12 months) of those imported workers. ACN also brings in cheap L-1B workers from India at lower rates, displacing or terminating the local Americans.

Project Firewall should definitely look at the L-1 visa abuses. This is critical given high unemployment and a fast-deteriorating economy.

ACN's MDs are the most toxic people in consulting industry. Real snakes. ACN fired many MDs a year ago, but the firm is still bloated and top-heavy. Nepotism is rife. And MDs' performance is not measured objectively. AI is just an excuse for chopping the deadwood.

ACN has had layoffs affecting L1 visa holders, they are not exempt from workforce reductions. The multiple rounds of layoffs are not targeted specifically at visa holders, but L1 and H1B holders have been impacted (this has been the case this year and from what we/I know since 2023).

The same applies to MD level. JS already said out loud that ACN could operate with fewer MDs and still drive growth.
