Thread regarding Lumen Technologies layoffs

Lumen Loophole: No RIF/Unemployment If you refuse ATT

If you refuse an ATT offer Lumen per conf call referenced you would be effectively be quitting your Lumen job. Since you had a viable similar job option to continue working with att on the table that you refused.

Translation your punked by Lumen if you dont accept ATT offer?

@fm Lumen has made it clear. They have to keep copper for their enterprise services.

First off, bargained for employees dont use the term rif. Second, theres no guarantee of if or when a layoff/buyout will occur at lumen or that there wont be one at the new company. How about a 3rd more likely option? After Lumen is rid of mass market fiber they then sell off mass market copper in an apollo type deal. Maybe brightspeed wants some more areas. None of us really know. Any other guesses on this forum are just that. Guesses.

Yes, no guarantee, and if you're low on the seniority list, you better take the offer.

For argument sake let's say you and 10 of your buddies are offered a position at att/networkco and you all reject, and you're in a union contract. Lumen will definitely have rifs but depending on how many they want to reduce and where you're at in seniority, you could be safe at Lumen.

@by If you are union and you get offered and decline Lumen can't guarantee your future employment at Lumen.
