Thread regarding Texas Instruments Inc. layoffs

Coming layoffs, starting on Wednesday?

Do we know this for sure?

Hearing 10% across all ti by end of Q4. Salaried employees targeted, hourly will see smaller impact. 2 phase reduction plan could start Wednesday. Lots of rumors being floated, but be prepared.

@ks it’s almost as if they want to do it in phases so some people leave…

Texas Instruments in the 70s-90s would have layoffs but they were deep and remaining employees regrouped and the “am I next” was less of an issue. Seems like that model has changed which is disappointing as it produces a less focused employee base asking “should I stay or should I go”.

Keep in mind this could be a shaking of the tree to get people to quit so be aware and don’t just emotionally decide to leave. Factually evaluate your position, have resumes ready and start your process today.

I heard 15% of TI sales at a minimum. My partner got a call this morning from our director to be let go. Numbers and timelines differentiate but I also heard more layoffs expected next quarter as well.

@ew her team's also just not great. We really don't have a lot of competent people in IT. The bulk of the manager's haven't updated their knowledge since the mid 00s and a lot of them are just really awful people who drive the talented younger folks either out of IT or out of TI. We've got like 15 years of nonstop IT failure that's severely impacted the company's ability to operate efficiently. Our whole IT infrastructure's sh-t. It's FINALLY starting to be updated as of extremely recently, but it took way longer than it should have to convince the company to do it and every step of the process is taking way longer than it should because there's so little experienced and knowledgeable talent in our IT department. And it looks like it's only going to get worse starting tomorrow.

@ep She doesn't listen to her team. They told her what will and what wont' work. She didn't listen, couldn't make a decision, and people left or were forced out.

@ep she was willing to be the bad guy with storage products, and she was rewarded for it. Not a great CIO, but an expert in corporate politics

@en Our CIO is a woman and is one of the least competent people on our leadership team. For her specific role at least.

@ct
The thought was that the RIF would happen tomorrow based on the two previous RIF’s so I guess we’ll see.
Both Exempts and Non-Exempts should be affected by this one. After this week we have to wait and see what happens in the 4th Qtr. Good luck to everyone affected!

Heard there is a confirmed reduction coming this morning. Good luck to everyone. If you are part of the reduction and voted for that orange id--t, thank yourself for the tariffs.

@OP TI..not even close to the company I joined over 3 decades ago nor even after they got out of Defense work and even the Memory sector. Early 2000's to ~ 2012 where great despite big dip in 2008. Then the woke business started. The ride thru 2018 made it palatable along with the early COVID years. Hit that early retirement button a short while ago....my choice , not TI's. Was always impressed by Sr. Leadership ( not so much middle management) for decades.....that changed with Kevin's and Kyles' departure and eventually Rich's role change. Look at path of destruction current TMG VP has left in all the orgs he served in since TI brought him stateside. The H1B gravy train is about to be derailed......to bad so many competent and experienced U.S. natives got steamrolled by that in recent history.

This all seems like speculation. Obviously no one is going to post there A-ID but can someone give credible evidence we are heading towards another RIF?
