I have applied to dozens of jobs for which I am extremely qualified and meet or exceed the desired qualifications. I am consistently turned down and told I’m qualified but “they went with someone else.” Then, I see the exact job req reposted the next day! Are these ghost jobs? I remember when internal candidates were at least granted a conversation with the recruiter! I no longer feel I can achieve my career goals at this company and I’ll be stuck in a dead-end role forever. Anyone else experiencing the same thing? It’s so disheartening.

@ap+1k5mrzsx2 - you give this place far too much credit. They are nowhere near that organized. Most managers don't even know who their HR partner is.
Never heard of anything remotely like this happening here.
Although if you are looking, common courtesy is to let your manager know either in passing or in the Annual/Mid-Year review.
Spew some b.s. at them, like "I really love working at this company, esp. for you and with all our fantastic team. I really believe I could do more and would like to learn about other areas of the firm. You've been such an awesome manager and mentor, I wanted to make you aware FIRST and really hope I'll have your support."
Ok, try not to ba-f when saying it, but it really works.
My manager referred me to another manager who had an opening who was WAY BETTER.
Then, original manager hired one of their favorites for my old job who ended up being mediocre.
But I am way happier now. the new manager even gave me the biggest bonus I've seen in years b/c he said I was underpaid.
Unfortunately most job openings are a sham. By the time they get posted, we already know who we want and just have to go thru the "publicly posting" / "interview" process to look legit, then hire the person we wanted in the first place.
You need to network and get yourself well thought of WAY BEFORE any opening appears.
That way, next time I see that I'm going to have an opening, maybe I'll think of that great person I met (you) and hire YOU! Or someone I respect and trust will give me your name.
Network, network, network.
Play the long game, far forward.
Yes! I've been with the company for 5 years. I have applied to over 40 jobs within the last two years alone. I am stuck at the dead end call center dept. Same thing I got a few interviews and my managers keep telling me be patient and it's only one job slot but still. I've done great interviews and really prepared. I don't get it either. I am extremely frustrated and I am thinking of looking elsewhere for career advancement. It a shame because I put time into this company and I really think it's one of the better companies I have worked for.
Better that they ignore you than play you.
you obviously need to l!ck and kizz way more a$$.
Start networking hun. Put yourself out there at every event and ask questions. Smile and play the game... eventually someone will tag you for something new. BTW, your manager 100% can see you applying for other jobs. Careful.
Wait for it... Upward mobility is impossible unless you have them by ba--s or you know someone who likes you, who has them by the ba--s.
The posting was just a formality if you were qualified but never got an interview or a call back. Happens more than you think. Some teams already have someone in mind , especially if is complexed. you may fit the requirements but a lot of the job descriptions are so vague.
Yes, these are ghost jobs and all companies do it. I'm wondering if you have put yourself in a situation where your manager can see what jobs you are applying for and wondering if they will take action during next layoff. I don't work for this company but I know it has happened in my company. If I were you, I would find out who the hiring manager was first and then talk to them in person if possible. This way you get to know if the job is real or fake posting and already been taken. If already taken or fake job, than you don't have to apply for it officially within the system.
Job already gone - promised to someone. Interviewed for appearance of correctness
you are not alone, this common at BofA and usually these jobs filled with someone who is...
shoe shiners
brown nosing
a-s kissing
bootlickers
It’s all about who you know
