Hello- Anybody faced a IBM low performance indicator from being on medical/parental leave now or in the past and all previous ratings were positive and no written or or-l performance issue was highlighted. just received surprise notification this week out of nowhere and i am still on medical leave how to defend against this type of stuff if hit with PIP when you eventually go back to work after leave ? will they fire me while im on leave ? is getting a lawyer the only option . Im not sure about complaint with HR/upline as they will usually defer back to manager.

I was marked as a "low performer" 6 months into my job as a newhire out of school. I'm not sure why this "low performer" shtick is kept so quiet.
Is it acceptable? No. Is it moral? Probably not. Is IBM going to change? NO.
The fact is that American workers are taking it where the sun doesn't shine. Folks in the EU and Canada at least have a government that puts some level of worker protections in place.
I'll pass along the best advice I've gotten so far at IBM: no matter how happy you are, always be looking for another opportunity outside of IBM.
DO NOT let IBM pressure you into feeling this is accurate.
@d6 how do you know are you the manager?
@b2 what do you mean by that
I have received a low performance email right after I told my manager that will be going to maternity leave.
Yes I have, think about it, what have you been doing to the benefit of the company. But the fact it will not affect you in the long run, trust me. Of course that’s true if when you return your performance is that as it was before you were on leave.
In my group one from each team was marked a low performer in may even if we had a good performance rating and we got put on coaching plans and PIPs. From this one not many were let go yet but a layoff is likely coming and will pick from those
they are creating legal cover
You have been targeted for removal from the Borg. IBM no longer has HR. They have a SHI*T bot. You will just suffer more physical and mental abuse. Take care of your mind and body and move onto your next chapter. There is nothing you can do as IBM has dotted all it's i's for you and the clock is ticking. Sounds harsh I know but just get the he-l out of there. Collecting unemployment is better than staying but healthcare costs will be your biggest issue until you get a new job.
