Thread regarding Nielsen layoffs

Proud to be a boomerang

I’m a boomerang and I’m proud of it. I left Nielsen thinking that there were greener pastures elsewhere but learned that corporate life everywhere is just a mess. I had gone to a competitor of Nielsen and the turmoil there is significantly worse.

Yes, Nielsen has some issues but honestly, it’s the best place I worked prior to leaving and I’m thrilled to be back. The grass is definitely not greener on the other side. I’m glad I left on my own terms when I did so I could come back with a different perspective.

OP: Since you posted on this site to testify about your new perspective, REVEAL YOURSELF!!! Why wouldn’t you??!! You might actually be taken seriously…And this would only serve to strengthen your position at Nielsen, since you would be serving as a major Nielsen cheerleader with real-life experience of life ‘on the other side.” Nielsen would thank you for your inspirational message, and we MIGHT actually do more than laugh at the absurdity of your comments—I’m sure many of us would be happy to mention to management how YOU PERSONALLY took it upon yourself to seek out this negativity-filled site, and bravely urge us all to change our perspective and start gulping and lovin’ the Koolaid— against all odds and at possible risk of revealing your identity ( but then again, maybe your name is Boomerang?)…..Otherwise, move on and spread your horse manure in other ‘greener pastures’, lol. What a JOKE…..

Welcome back boomerang. I've seen some pretty awesome people leave and come back over the years and I've been asking about and learning from their experiences. This is why I haven't seriously considered leaving yet either.

I've worked for several companies in the last 20 years AT&T was the best. Nielsen was imho just awful. I would work for AT&T again tho' I prefer to avoid corporate life now - to your way of thinking y'know let them have it.

I mean while Nielsen is imho just an unhealthy place for ANYONE to be, there are other corporations where you get what you expect and the environment is perfectly livable.

@a3 to the sour people who can’t believe this is true, I’m not the only one who has come back. I would have had to swallow a lot of pride to post on here about how miserable I was at “there other guys.” I thought it would be great at a new company. Trust me, there are a lot worse things than having coworkers on the other side of the world.

@a2 US based. Slightly different role than when I left but I’ve been able to use my experience at my role between stints at Nielsen to come back in larger role.
