@vy The rationale was not shared with us. Cost cutting is the likely reason (IT service provider claiming they can do it cheaper and better). Since getting the heave ho, we have learned that Mirabitur has recently replaced other teams with the same IT service provider AND has plans to replace more teams.
@w2 All FTE included in 30 count; however, in addition all the contractors were terminated.
@vw Wow..that is brutal indeed. All FTEs or contractors or both?
@vy months long**
@vw One of the DBs to my old projects got breached. I didn't know I had targets like that. First I endured a month long daily DDoS operation on something I loved after years of peace and harmony and now this. Very strange time to be on the internet! Especially on projects that didn't have opsec because they weren't meant for attracting intruders. Just a bunch of personal experiments / R&D. For a company like Ford, I understand opsec is vital though, what's the rationale?
@pk it was one of the database administration organizations under Mirabitur
Count up or down?
@de 30 laid off in a single day? Wow..that's brutal..which area, if you don't mind.
@de sept 11 must of been popular choice. Our LL6 insisted that we were all in the same building on that Thursday. In our status meeting which included our India component a guest advised us that all of our jobs were being outsourced to Cognizant. The LL6 and one person in Dearborn and one person in India were retained for the transition. 51 laid off.
There was no advance notification.
@de yeah it's the company's response to quiet quitting... it's quiet layoff.
I haven’t commented since our entire area was laid off on 9/11. With the exception of two people we were all informed that our services were no longer needed effective immediately, here is your package have a nice life. The two people remaining at Ford are to help transition our jobs to an IT services provider, after that who knows their fate. These 30 jobs were in an IT Infrastructure/Operations area.
I have since learned that this is becoming a theme as other areas have had the same treatment and not a peep about it before or after. All the small cuts add up.
Good luck to you guys.
It's coming....
It looks 25 base points drop hasn't triggered anything.
