Thread regarding Comcast layoffs

How to stay sane until restructuring is over?

It’ll be months before this is resolved, and by all accounts the cuts will be massive. That means a long stretch of stress and anxiety, right when keeping your job feels existential. The job market is already a horror show and only getting worse. We’ll all lose it before this is done and over with.

It stinks and why do we always do this around the holidays in the US? Last year it was entire teams at HQ being let go and jobs transferring to Manila for a more "Global" presence. Are you guys having to train the people replacing you or are you not being replaced? I hope you find something even better.

@af I'm part of the spinoff to Versant and the amount of work my department does on a day to day is about to get reduced by at least a third. It dawned on me today how sc--wed I and many of my beloved coworkers are.

If you haven't been networking already, you're already behind. The best we can hope for is getting some clarity sooner rather than later and start casting a WIDE net. Like I'm not kidding - think NBC, Universal, outside the umbrella. It's do or die, friends. Time to hold on for a rough ride.

@OP I think many of us are panicking because we have so little information. It seems insane to cut anyone i directly work with, considering the massive amount of work that cannot possibly be absorbed at the HQ level. This kind of news never feels good to anyone, but this time is different than the others. Especially with the backwards movement of only hiring amd promoting to in-office. It leaves many of us in a position where we have no choice but to leave.

Agree. Potentially affected as well. Very disheartening to put in this time and effort and learn of this today with no real answers or direction.

Not sure, struggling with that now. Trying to get my finances in order and network with regions/HQ to see about openings.
