My daughter said they reopened back up a few days ago, and it still stunk

@r5 I’ve noticed this at my store.
It’s in the HVAC system. Ductwork thick with it. Air registers regularly sp-t out bits of black debris which soils merchandise, fixtures and carpeting.
Permanently? I haven’t heard this
