Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

No more RTO tracking

Noticing that since the news came out that they are no longer tracking in office presence , the little Flexible workspace In my building is no longer full. It used to be at capacity daily, now half of the seats are empty - people are going back to doing what they want -

Wonder if average hours per week is going to affect our EOY rating or next year’s raise. Some people’s bonus got docked last March; wasn’t it for RTO noncompliance?

If a company shows little regard for employee loyalty, what does that imply about how they treat their customers? It won’t be long before customers start wondering if the company sees them merely as cash cows. If VS and TMUS are smart, they could capitalize on this and deliver a knockout.

I’m hearing the company is having issues with recruiting talent because if RTO. In addition to that, denies don’t want to drive to downtown Dallas to work. This is why both the RTO flexibility and the company looking for real estate up north has been put out in the media. It’s meant to promote the company on their quest for new low paid employees.

The Presence Report is basically the Badge Swipes performed at ATT locations.
The Hourly Report primarily comes from your laptop being connected to ATT WiFi or an ATT LAN connection.
These reports are different.
The Hourly Report is what was used to fire people who did a badge swipe, then went home

Command and control, micro-manage and punitive treatment, it is in the SBC (I mean AT&T) culture DNA and will never change.

Do not believe it, they ARE still using the presence report. If you think otherwise, you must be new here.

"Presence Reporting and Hourly Reporting are two separate things.
Don’t mix up the two."

Not much of a difference since the presence report is being used to confirm your 8 hours in the office. I understand that one is used for payroll and the other is not.

My supervisor mentioned yesterday that he was told that presence reporting (how many hours you are in the office) is going away BUT it is not the official policy YET, so, don't get too excited. Although not said specifically to him, he said he suspects they will still be looking at daily swipes.

Had a team meeting this week in which our boss confirmed that presence is still being tracked, and if there are significant errors in the report to open a ticket and get it on the record. This is coming from VP level.

The “whole” we are no longer tracking presence was a comment made by the CMO and was PR spin. She was attempting to put lipstick on the pig of the RTO/Survey damage that Stank and McVest created. Especially since it is getting outside of T exposure. Is there fear it is starting to impact the brand?

The company has shown and stated what they really think of their employees. When someone shows who they are, believe them.

They have successfully been able to leverage RTO for inducing force reductions. The targeted HC is still not where they want it, RTO and associated tracking is not going away.

They probably have a big enough backlog of "outliers" that they need to get rid of for now.

Don’t be fooled. This is just the c suite covering up their black eye. They’re dangling a carrot of “flexibility” to see who will take advantage and then will layoff anyone they deem an “abuser”. The report isn’t going away and your profile of metrics isn’t either. There is no real flexibility here.

This whole fallacy of “flexibility” is just a cover up for the public backlash the company is facing in the media. Don’t let up. Nothing has actually changed yet. When there’s an official rollback to fully virtual again or even 3 days then we can believe it.

There is definitely more flexibility now.

My org has gone back to WFH on weekends and holidays.

No one checking hours anymore because we’ve been told directly we have flexibility, but not to deviate from the rules.

Everyone appreciates the less strict policy and are following the rules.
