Hi Everyone, I got an email today from the main irish HR boss. Can anyone interpret what it means? Will we be fired? FYI, we are a team of 9 people, everyone got the email, we were perfoming very well over the past years. Also the manager got this email
Thank you to everyone!
Subject line: Urgent & Important - Country Information Meeting
Email:
Hello,
You are requested to attend an information meeting tomorrow, where we will share an important update on some country restructuring proposals which will affect several roles in Ireland, provisionally including your role. This meeting will not be recorded, and you are asked to prioritize attending.
I appreciate you will have many questions at this point, but more information will be shared on tomorrow’s call.

@f9 According to the HR call today, talks with the ECF only begin on Friday. Presumably there is a bit more prep work involved with these and the letter to the Minister for Enterprise etc, etc, than in the US or India.
Interesting no sales cuts….yet. I wonder is a second wave coming.
@df it will be longer than 30 days, it’s 30 days for ECF then individual consult then notice depending on service. Absolute quickest is likely 9 weeks from today
Even our whole team got we are team of 8 under DB org
Does anyone know which part of sales? Tech, Apps or which?
@dk meant to say 113
I see from Aria that LJE had 403 rolling up to him in Ireland, and SC had 661. Making a total of 1064.
So 118 would be round about (a little over) 10%
@df do you know if this is across all of Ireland employees or a specific GBU?
Update on the meeting:
It was a webinar that just finished and only lasted about 5 minutes.
They said we are part or all of the group potentially being laid off.
The HR representative mentioned several times a meeting with the ECF (not sure what that is).
The consultation period is 30 days, after which we will be informed whether we are selected to leave or not.
Then, they will schedule one-on-one meetings with us.
From the way it sounded, it’s very likely we will be affected, as they mentioned a large number of sales reps will be let go.
113 jobs to go in Ireland,
14 in finance
21 in sales
78 in engineering.
Has to go through a collective redundancy process in Ireland as its over 20 people which takes at least 30 days before the first lay off.
fingers crossed, let us know <3
@d0 Thank you. I will udpate what happens.
Best of luck at 12 everyone whatever happens. This never was gonna come at a good time, but due to my current personal circumstances, it literally couldn't have come at a worse time!
Please let us know the update, im in UK and awaiting any news so this is much closer to home now its starting EMEA based
Slán libh!
Yep @OP - You’re toast.
@af I am not unfortunately
@aj I think it is to write where you worked on your CV, but other than that I see no benefit. I would have had that anyway, since I saved the job posting I sent my application to back in the days.
@a9 why would you screenshot the org chart?
I think it’s the start of the workers council notification period, I think they have 5 weeks of consultation and then will offer voluntary redundancy, if they don’t get enough volunteers it will be mandated…… Ill be on the same call.
@aa this is not how it works in the EU No mass layoffs there needs to be a consultation period.
This notice is not good news - unless you are looking for some involuntary vacation time!
@a8 I agree about the lack of transparency. If they're letting people know like this, it is likely due to a specific legal requirement for Oracle to do so.
Since it won't be recorded I'm guessing it will be a "We regret to inform you ...."
But I could be wrong.
Probably depends on your local labor laws.
Some in Europe have to have notification and consultation periods / meetings if roles will be "downsized".
@a9 Will do thanks!
It was sent out to all teams who may be impacted by RIFs in upcoming weeks. It's a town hall type meeting, so is likely just a formal notification that consultations are ongoing, and maybe some info on the timeline/process. When it comes to the actual RIF itself, you'll get a 1-1 invite, not a group meeting.
Not true. NA and NZ got group invites and were mass laid off. "Restructuring or reorg, or business update" are keywords, they all used it.
100% lay off. It's identical to other locations. CX NZ the whole office was laid off after similar invitation a week ago.
Backup your personal data, download payslips, write down contact details of people you want to keep in touch with, screenshot org chat with you in it.
@a4 Is that certain? Because from my experience Oracle is very untransparent with its decisions regarding anything. It seem not something they would do.
@a3 100% true
@a5 GBUs Sales
Apps or tech, sorry?

Ask yourself: is this an e-mail they would send to you if you are not fired?
I do not think so.
@a1 GBUs, Sales
