Reading these other posts on here. I went out to chatgpt myself. Seems its not legal, not even close to legal in CA, for them to take our earned PTO without compensation. Can we band together and stand up?

Wow, folks that were just laid off who were told to take their pto a month or so ago so that it did not have to be paid out. So wrong. I remember when this company cared about its employees.
So we are giving rsu's to support engineers instead of those who create the product. nice, thanks gk............ that makes about as much sense as everthing else that has happened in the past year and a 1/2.
@1by From context, do you think it's possible that was a reply to the person who said "no one below C level" received RSUs?
RSUs have nothing to do with PTO.
I got quite a few RSUs. Support engineer here.
20k worth
OMG. NetApp interns that have to do this. We know that AY is gone. If she was responsible she would still be here. We don't believe that she is to blame, step up you cowards and stop blaming her for your actions that are sc--wing the employees.
@ms She had some significant incidents around alcohol and late night events
Still so curious why was AY laid off after announcing stack ranking
Think of your accrued days a the latest PTOcoin. You've been paid into your PTOcoin account. It has value. You can trade PTO coin with the company for days off, pay down your student loans, or if you leave, cash.
Now the company has come along announced as of October, PTO coin is now worthless. You now get this FTOcoin instead, which has no cash value.
The 3 month window to extract the max value out of your PTOcoin account is WAY too short. They should've given a year to allow proper burndown. Or, as most other are saying, allow a proper cash exchange on the balance.
They are not stealing your accrued vacation time. If you quit in November and still had some accrued days you would be paid for them.
Not sure how much this loophole will hold up in court in CA of all places. I say there's a decent chance of a lawsuit win.
No doubt they are exploiting a loophole. Sc--w the employees who actually made this company what it is in order to make the balance sheet look better and increase their RSUs, no one below C level got any this year anyway. What a joke this company has become in the engineer world (yes we all talk, its not that big of a community).
Unfortunately it seems they are exploiting a loophole - the way they are retaining the PTO balance and won’t switch an employee to FTO until after it’s all used up. So technically if you get laid off before all PTO is used, they do still pay out for those hours.
