Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Layoffs aren’t strategy, they’re a symptom of failure

When a company keeps leaning on layoffs to fix problems, it’s a giant red flag. It doesn’t matter what excuse the leadership gives, be it cost cutting, restructuring, or aligning priorities. It all points to leadership that doesn’t know how to manage long term.

Moving or retraining an existing worker costs more than hiring a fresh grad or intern and training them. Large firms do not care about experience lost. There are others with experience- maybe not very good but hey who cares. The numbers look good - right?
Besides those who loose their jobs will make the cardinal sin of flashing their Oracle credentials and doing more Oracle work. So that is a win win per the powers that be

So absolutely true. When a company has to do layoffs, it's because of bad management. It's a management failure. Oh, and never call those people "leadership." They're just bad managers.

Observing what a storm is since last weeks it has nothing to do with logical action throwing out so many people unexpectedly. Nowadays how HUMAN RESOURCES can be explained? I don’t understand why people are treated like over terminated potatoes instead of doing long term strategy to switch them to a new technology. This is very irresponsible to separate people and believe that in the future of AI people role is not significant. Indeed, it will be needed to „in between” work and coordination. AI is so fresh and new born tech that should be adapted and tested wisely before doing any move further. We know that Larry met Donald, and sadly promises mean more than risk management.
