On the day of the lay-off please keep your cool and don’t burn any bridges. You may need these contacts going forward. Just remember it is probably not within your immediate supervisors control to decide who gets laid off. It is likely the next level up who decides so you can think poorly of them but do not harm anyone. After all they are just doing their job. There is a whole lifetime ahead of you to have really evil thoughts about these people who messed your life up. That you can look forward to because it will not go away.

Be truthful. We’d all like to see a bit of drama. That would lighten the mood.
Good advice. People get laid off, find jobs with competitors and somehow end up back with their old company after their new company gets acquired by COP. I've seen it happen in every merger and acquisition COP has gone through in my career.
Experiment (or daily fun task) - Take notice of where you park. Judge yourself and those around you by seeing who is there and who isn't when you leave.
Maybe I am just a but in chair guy, but folks around where I park are gone by the time I pull out of the parking lot.
Its the system in which we are all working in. It is flawed and doesn't allow for just treatment and even real self-determination. The system creates politicking which works to keep us turned against each other.
In a small company or start-up, everyone is running in the same direction for often one goals so each individual is more aligned. In a company like COP, we fight for budget between functions and BUs, fight each other for differential ratings, and fight the company for what we think is important. Each person having a different goal means that we are like leaves on a tree each fluttering slightly of center from the next. Upper mgmt needs to get everyone on the same page. That happened a bit with return to the office policies and level-setting on work hours, but even that isn't enforced and there is no support from immediate mgmt to enforce that.
