Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

HR su-ks

So a coworker was laid off with some effective date in the future. I'm not going to give away the date because I want to remain anonymous. I don't trust HR detectives.

He's one of the lucky few ones that found a new job right away. They will not give him the severance if he leaves early before the final day. What a joke.

We put people first. Uh huh. Su-k it hr

A coworker of mine was laid off two years ago and received a pretty solid severance from my understanding. Ultimately he found another position in a different division but because he was in that period his severance still covered, he had to give it back to accept the position.

HR is where the people that cant do anything else wind up.

Seems like that has become a strategy. Draw out the amount of time someone still has to work in hopes that they find a new job and don’t need severance. One needs to be incredibly lucky with timing to be able to still get severance and work the new job.

He should ask his new employer if he can start later so he can keep the severance. Also he shouldn't tell HR anything about his next moves. Does he have to work for the next 30 or 60 days?
