Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Leadership's quiet trip to the Philippines?

In a time when departments are being asked to tighten budgets and prioritize essential operations, and provide more transparency, funding travel for a certain HQRI "leaders" appears not only fiscally irresponsible but also questionable.

Regarding jobs being outsourced overseas and in particular to India, please visit the link below. May want to look at comments made by our Indian counterparts. Kind of shocking what they think of American workers. Might give you a glimpse and wake up to reality of how Indians truly perceive Americans.

I, for one, find it disturbing.

@be Philippine nurses make the equivalent of around 825 to 875 USD/ month. That’s good money if you live outside the big cities.

The only problem with your fact checking is that nobody, including myself, mentioned the word manufacturing whatsoever. Please re-read the posts below for confirmation to that.

Tariffs can affect bringing back IT jobs as well, such as the Indian IT work you mentioned.

Dear Lord, in what world of delusion do we live?. Tariffs were intended to incentivize domestic production, but economists argue their effect has been limited. Many companies, since they are facing higher US labor and materials costs, are leaning into automation instead of hiring more workers. In fact, manufacturing jobs have continued to decline. Check for yourself: in August 2025, the US lost 12K manufacturing jobs!!!
ALSO, uncertain trade and immigration policies have deterred investment... The most recent example??? the ICE raid at the hyundai plant in GA disrupted not only operations but also long term hiring hopes, causing project delays.
I read that a Wells fargo analysis estimates it would take nearly $3 trillion in capital investment to restore factory employment to the 1979 peak levels (an ambitious and expensive undertaking). Some economists caution that trying to “bring back” manufacturing jobs is unrealistic in a modern economy increasingly driven by services and automation. I wish we could stop repeating things the government says like little parrots, and do a better analysis of all the facts.

And regarding Humana: we are a lost case. I am not sure how long we have been hiring IT people from India, for example. But the nurses and care coaches from the Philippines are a current fact. I always wonder how much the pay difference is (vs. US nurses).

It's sad, so sad
It's a sad, sad situation
And it's gettin' more and more absurd

Annoyed, disappointed and disheartened

@b2 Trump only cares about himself and how to make more $ while most others are struggling. I do agree with the issue of outsourcing. It has been an issue for many years and for many administrations.

It does seem counterintuitive that our President is trying to bring jobs back to America while Humana is trying to move them out.

If that is the case, that Humana is trying/planning on outsourcing all or most work overseas, then I would no longer consider Humana an American company.

Which is ironic, because while our current U.S. is doing his very best to bring (and create) more jobs in America, (which as an aside is one of the main purposes of the tariffs), Humana is attempting to move (take away) American jobs and give to other countries.

Now what in the world is up with that???

That means they’re exploring being in an offshore team from the Philippines. They didn’t go for a vacation.
