Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

ConocoPhillips layoffs are sparking debate about AI’s role in Houston’s energy sector

The Houston-based oil company announced it is cutting nearly a quarter of its global workforce by the end of this year. That means between 2,600 and 3,200 employees will be impacted. Company leaders say the decision comes as they look for ways to cut costs and boost efficiency after a drop in oil prices.

Perhaps AI should be first implemented in the energy C-suite to boost efficiency of the use of money and shareholder value

@bb You may not believe it but stack Bitcon like your life depends on it because it does. Dont take it from me take it from an AI expert himself Dr Roman Yampolski. It’s the only scarce digital asset that AI can’t create more of. The new have and have not will be those that have BTc and those left behind.

@bc If we streamlined the work. In SC, the company has so many guardrails that almost no contract is standard.

@a8 there’s no doubt that the AI we see publicly today is anywhere close to what’s already been discovered about it. Be a little suspicious to see the advancement and then layoff people. The trick is to get a head start on something we’re completely unaware of. AI can fill most roles in the workforce as it is without a doubt.

Stem fields will stay for the longest as some work needs human liability. Most office workers will lose your jobs in the next 10 years without a doubt. Then the rest will work from home seeing as how that was already piloted. The company can save money not having so many physical assets etc etc.

Funny to me how all of our politicians and leaders rant on about AI infrastructure, off site cloud servers etc etc all without offering any safety nets for the majority of us. Who knows, maybe we’ll be purged in a war or another disease. My guess is the disease one. May as well guarantee to get rid of the non conformists this go around.
