Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Haven’t been impacted yet

But if I do stay, what’s the point of getting invested in my work? Hard work and skills aren’t rewarded here. They’re punished. Because in the end, they just come with a higher price tag.

Right now, Oracle is dropping humans to have their jobs done by AI. That's what happened to mine and a lot of other friends who were let go. It's the big new thing, AI, why pay humans when you can have a machine do it? Massive capital expenditure is needed to implement this but I guess over time it's going to represent a saving of money for them? Increasing profit margin and delighting investors no doubt.

There is absolutely no point of working hard at this company you won't be rewarded and dumped.

Just do your job at the minimum and collect that check.

Just do the absolute bare minimum for your role. Everything is planned there with the expectation that the bare minimum is being done, they don’t expect you to go above and beyond, but if you want to go for it sure do it but just understand that you won’t be compensated for your extra efforts.

The company isn't structured to be a long term gig, do the bare minimum for 3 years and at the most 5 years and then leave.

@OP I understand what you're saying. But in this job market when you have to compete with AI and young college graduates, it's just best to get the work you're assigned done. One complaint from you and you'll be replace by a young college graduate that knows how to use AI tools and can easily adapt and not argue with management, or even worse, have them replace you with a young H1B visa person who recently graduated from a US university. Tough times ahead in the job market.

Do your assigned work . Dont get in to politics. No use breaking bridges. When its time to leave grab your severance and leave with dignity. Be kind and if you are in a job help others to recommend them of any positions you come to know of.

@OP Please treat work as business. Be yourself. We cannot control 'cost reduction' We can control how we take things in life :)
