@bn Correct. Top mangement is corrupt and greedy. AI wont change any thing other than their wallets. They always lie. Workers are just numbers for addition and substraction.

Rarely in corporate world you would receive right compensation for your work. See multiple patents lawsuit between company and employees.

WE comply and work due to our circumstances or ignorance

In this economy, ALL the workers should just think about themselves first.

  • Do not teach AI how to do your work.
  • Always consider whats the benefit you can have doing this job, money/learning/future growth etc
  • Save heavily, cut down unnecessary expenses
  • Invest to grow your money
  • Work strictly for 8 hours or less
  • Say strict NO to extra hours. If any single person does not say so, they are jeopardizing themselves in long run by creating it as acceptable to stretch
  • Take care of your health
  • Spend time with your loved ones, family or friends you enjoy. Time would never come back to enjoy these precious moments in life.

Anything else??

@bc 100% correct. It’s pointless to work hard. Rest and vest while you can.

@b2 "And I know what those still at Oracle are thinking of me" - I couldn't disagree more. I've had a front row seat to more layoffs in my career than I can count. And each time the prevailing attitude is "Why did they get laid off? They were great." The consensus among the 'survivors' is usually that there is a nonsensical randomness to these things, and if there is a pattern, it doesn't involve ability or productivity It's usually more related to age/pay (or as known in sports, "salary cap moves") or targeting a certain office location or division that may have been picked up in an acquisition.

Tough times for Oracle employees right now. It’s surprising to see these cuts happening even while the company is reporting strong financial results and shifting heavily toward AI. Looks like another case of restructuring where the focus is on long-term strategy rather than current performance. Wishing the best for those affected — hope they land on their feet soon.

@an And I know what those still at Oracle are thinking of me and the others that got laid off: "They must not have been as good as ME. I must have been spared because I bet I'm better than Walt. This whole time I thought Walt was so smart, but I guess not cuz Oracle wouldn't have let HIM go if he was as smart as we all thought. I must be the smart one cuz I'm still here and Walt is gone." (cue to flexes fingers and puts feet up on desk)

I know this is the case cuz I used to be that guy. I have gone my whole life without being laid off and always received rave evaluations at EVERY job EVERY year. I sure felt big and always looked down upon those who were let go AFTER they were let go.

My advice is to understand that life is unfair and event he best and brightest can be caught up in mass layoffs. THAT is when you realize how unfair it is. I am happy with all the work I did while at Oracle and my prior jobs and I know Oracle and my prior employers were happy with my work.

If you are still at Oracle, best thing to do is accept the fact that nobody is off limits. Stop thinking high and mighty of yourself and just do great work and demand good pay for it. When your employer stops paying you for your great work, find someone else who wants to pay you for your skills and expertise.

THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF HIGH TECH EMPLOYEES

One who haven't been laid off ..Yet
One who have been laid off

It is a cancerous cycle that is only getting worse.
