It says something about the OP that with all of the big issues running through everyones mind, this is what triggered a negative reaction.

@a7 people dont need to be DBs themselves. The situation su-ks but its also this industry. The layoff cycles are just a part of it and working for large companies. Everyone just needs to make some plans incase things go south for them. Then sit back, do their jobs and take one day at a time until something happens or it doesnt.
Give the guy a break, high pressure and he is trying to bring the tension down
