Companies like IBM use layoffs opportunities to keep visa work holders on the job and get rid of the rest
Nothing new about H1B visa holders being required to leave within weeks of layoff. That's been required for years.
New, but not surprising is, the well-known tech companies laying people off, as they over-hired during Covid including H1Bs workers. H1B has been blatantly abused to bring in cheap tech workers in masses. In fact, I think companies should be required to layoff H1B workers first before firing US citizens.
