Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

So long and thanks for all the fish

Well… got my “organisational update” email in the calendar. Looks like that’s all she wrote. It’s been a wild ride but it’s time for a new chapter. Am going to miss all the great people who I’ve worked with. But I think I’m leaving at a time when it’s going to be no fun being at Dell. Swings and roundabouts. Hope Dell finds its way again.

@OP

Could you please let us know which organization you are with? This would help us better understand what Dell is aiming to achieve with these layoffs. Thank you.

Hey man, that su-ks! For your sake I hope you hated your job so it's easier to be "relieved?" and set free... If not then... I'm sorry. I'd be devestated if I was laid off as I LOVE my job and every single person I work with.

But hey, Dell is on a weird downwards path so maybe this is a good time to get out! You get a severance, can go collect unemployment, and in the meantime spend quality time w/ family, friends, hobbies, or whatever tf you want. Looking for jobs SU-KS but, you will find one and it'll likely be at a higher pay than what Dell was giving you, so there's that!

Before I was a FTE at dell, I interviewed for a contract position in March of 2019. Went fantastic but they didn't have any more room for another contractor - why I was interviewed, i have no idea lol. I didn't get the job but, 7 months later I'm called up and asked to join. I accept and 3 months later am a FTE.

I applied to a new job at a different F500 company a month ago and am hoping maybe I'll get something but, sh-t takes time and who knows man, you might get surprised months down the line with the job you REALLY wanted.

Point is that, don't give up or lose hope in your job search. Losing a job blows, even if you hate it. It pays the bills so you put up with it right? Looking for jobs su-ks too. Idk how old you are but I will give some advice...

Don't just blindly send out a resume - i mean, do it on LinkedIN "quick apply" but for EVERY job you are genuinely interested in, go read that job description and go to your resume and put as many words in it as possible, that the job description has.

Humans are not reading these things. AI is. If your resume doesn't include enough "key words" in it, it gets trashed.

I hope you the best and am sorry you were let go but, I'm sure things will be BETTER eventually :)
