Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

ANI throwing money at celebs

What a kick in the knackers for the hundreds of people over the last 2 years that ANI let go.

Social media today full of pics of their big event.
Hiring a conference center, catering, games, Virtual Reality stations, music not to mention the costs of the NUMEROUS celeb guests (Brian Cox, Kelly Holmes, Shane Todd and more).

Never saw a party spend like this in 20 years of good times. How dare they do this while constantly laying people off.

I’m sure it was fun for those of you who still have jobs. But for anyone affected by global mismanagement and worried about mortgage payments this was sickening to see.

@34r

That's standard practise sadly, not just something Allstate do. Smallest Payoff i heard was 6 months salary (that person was in company 2 years) and largest i heard was 13 months salary + 1 month gardening leave + leftover PTO converted.

@ef Can you cast any light on what the redundancy would be, like is it a weeks salary for every year of service plus a months salary on top of that or something? The whole thing is very hush hush. I've heard they are making people sign NDAs to get an enhanced redundancy and if they don't they reduce it to stat redundancy instead, which sounds very legally questionable if true.

@x4 Haha yeah. At least we got to listen to an interesting scientist at our bonfire of money event.

Enjoy your ludicrously paid grievance archaeologists.

How about laying people off every year, sometimes multiple times and then flying people from all over the world and paying downtown Chicago hotel prices for their asinine DEI summit?

Wow, the negativity, I was employed by ANI for 20+ years and this was the best 20 years I was employed. Paid for days out, xmas outings, bonuses. My previous employer did none of these.

Senior Management only truly rolling out this dross for the sole purpose to garner “clicks” on social media and LinkedIn.

Absolutely disgusting behaviour by “leadership?” who clearly have blinkers on and have no empathy for those folks who built this company in Northern Ireland from the ground up, but were “cut” by someone making inept decisions on a spreadsheet because they were simply over a salary threshold.

Likewise it’s the same brown nosers all over this on social media trying to sell the narrative that Allstate is “still” a great place to work.

Everyone in the IT industry in Northern Ireland, and the dogs in the street knows Allstate is a poisoned chalice for anyone still in it or stupidly considering joining an organisation that most certainly is on its way out.

Shame on everyone involved in organising this Trojan Horse event….

It’s an absolute crime what management in that company are at. The hundreds of lay offs and they’re behaving like they’re Facebook or Google with their constant happy social media posts. That id--t in charge needs to catch himself on. The company is obviously striving to get rid of old heads and replace them with youngsters whom they can pay a pittance to and eventually turn the company into a low paid testing ‘factory’.

It’s taking all my willpower not to post on their Facebook or LinkedIn pages telling them what ignoramuses they are for pretending they’re a caring forward looking company - Allstate NI, you’re a bunch of inept puppets with no sense of guilt for what you’ve done to many workers, many with 20+ years service including myself. And as for those same dozen or so people who appear in almost every batch of photos, have a bit of self respect and also realise you could be gone in a blink of an eye, no matter how much ar-e licking you do and by Chr1st you do a helluva lot of ar-e licking!

To all those decent folk still there, stick it out and take what you can from the pricks. I did and ended up on £12k more plus my redundancy so two fingers up to you Allstate 😂

@b4 I was also there, I heard a guy ask Brian how would he stop genocide, I thought it was one of the few honest moments that day

Morale is obviously in the toilet, that is why they put on this dog and pony show. Instead of wasting all this money you think they could have taken whatever this cost, divvied it up amongst the employees and handed it out as a thank you. Nope, instead they spunked it on a load of Z list celebrities and daft "experiences".

Thought it was tone deaf to be honest. As you said absolute kick in the knackers for the people who left, and those who remain dealing with the fallout of losing our colleagues and friends.

As the first reply says, think of this when the cr-p payrise comes around. The grins for the social media. Would love a newspaper article juxtaposing those grinning su-k ups with the number of people who lost their jobsw.

I was there, people seemed to enjoy it but come year end when we get the usual tiny pay “rise” and bonus maybe people will start to think about the waste that goes in to cr-p like this.

One fun day, is this staff retention compared to a decent wage or future prospects…,
