Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

It's all about age once again

Why am I only seeing people who've been here for at least a decade but most for almost two posting they were laid off? Has leadership completely given up on trying to hide age discrimination?

Maybe they have realized what an absolute toxic environment they have caused with the salary disparities so they are laying off the older workers.

@a2 yes make it make sense, been like that for awhile at this company though. They will RIF someone who has been there a long time (> than 10 years) and knows the product area inside and out, they will then hire a new young worker with no Oracle experience for 50%++ higher the salary.

Just got notified by multiple attendee Zoom call, looks like entire team may have gotten the axe. 68 yrs old with 7 1/2 years time served. Good news is Ive decided to retire so I'll take whatever $ they're offering and go relax

It wasn't all old timers, I heard someone from my former team got hit, was hired less than a year ago. Of course, I had to hear second hand because I was an old fa-t tossed in the June layoffs.

@OP nope a ton of BDRs fresh out of college were laid off. My guess is they don’t spend time on these forums

How do older workers cost more? They don’t give us raises. They cost the same as they cost when they were hired 20 years ago. When factoring in inflation, they cost the company less and provide more experience than younger workers.
