Thread regarding VMware layoffs

VCF PSO....

..so when exactly would the plug be pulled for the rest of this division, as we all know there is going to be a shift to partners?
Some say end October/Start of November? What are you hearing?

There is a certain communism across the franchises you see. AVGO decided to buy software companies for one main reason (starting in 2018 after being blocked from buying more chip ones like Qualcomm): to flatten cyclical revenue and make hardware sales appear to be always stable and up, due to multi-yr renewals from software. The 2 software franchises that actually make good profit - VCF and MSD - also make up for the lackluster performance of other software franchises until they're shed. Therefore the winning ones see even more pressure to increase profit margins via price hikes and layoffs to carry the other losers. That's why.

You would think the VCF division is safe from Layoffs considering their performance and profitability every quarter...but then this is Broadcom... no one is safe...

Layoffs will happen before Oct 15th. This avoids RSU vest in December and bonus payout at end of year.

Insight from an Insider: Services and Support employees before last year were in the same pay-band as core product R&D engineers, the highest pay & equity scale (makes sense given they figure out how to make the coded tech actually work, so they very technical). Last year BRCM moved services and support out of that payband and into "general/administrative" one, which is about 60% lower pay & equity. So this year the announcements of those functions moving off to partners suddenly tells you why they that job family move happened, doesn't it? But they did it to all those functions in all franchises, not just 90% of them. There's your answer to what/when on the Top10% customers serviced inside also going to partners.

Top 10% of customers (measured by $$ they pay) stays serviced internally... all the rest goto partners. This is for all software divisions not just VMWare's. Top 10% for now. Repeat: for now.

All of services will move to partners. Just a matter of time. Don't be fooled into thinking it won't happen.

Seems not true this message only relates to the smaller customers. In strategic BC want to lead and manage the PS engagements for proper adaption. The scaling of these BC led PS services is done with partners.

“We are moving all of our professional services and consultant services, implementation and employment services, to partners,” said Laura Falko, Broadcom’s head of global partner programs, marketing and experience. “Broadcom does not want to be in that business. We want our partners to do it. They can do it better than us, faster than us, and so that’s a great opportunity for our partners.”

November seems to be mentioned quite a lot for another round of layoffs in VCF PS...

I'm sure it will be with a personal email, on a Monday morning, notifying you that you are fired without talking to your manager. Then the ones that are left will tell you how great the "transition" is...They can go fu-k themselves.
