To be honest, I'm still here because I'm not marketable but I've also seen examples of the biggest waste of talent at IBM. The company loses money that way because it doesn't know how to use the best abilities in its employees, but what intrigues me even more is why talented people waste their time here.

Family priority over career growth for next few years. Also supposedly good job security in my department is why I stay (product is core to basically everything else and understaffed) coupled with uncertain market conditions. I have been lucky to get 20-30% raises by switching teams including a promotion since getting promoted on same team can take years (someone in front of you / budget, etc) even if your deserving of it earlier. Count your blessings and figure out your priorities.
IBM is Azkaban. Middle managers are dementors. They took our soul the moment we arrived.
