Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Just when you thought Intel couldn't get any weirder

So, after doing some cloud/DevOps/Python nonsense, my mission at Intel is over. I think I’ve been getting the usual market compensation, but now, for economic reasons, I have to leave—no hard feelings about that.

Out of pure curiosity, I browsed open roles at Intel, and what caught my attention was an NPU Compiler Developer C++ role at grade 7. Really? Most people I know have much higher pay grades, and honestly, they could clean the shoes of compiler developers.

I’m not claiming to be smarter than the CEO, but to me, this looks like a clear sign Intel’s finally tanking.

"they could clean the shoes of compiler developers" is this supposed to mean that the people you know are much better than the people who would accept the job you referenced?

Yes. Perhaps I should have been clearer and said they could cook the food of the compiler developers.

@cc
Feel free to share the unique job you've been doing at Intel. If it's cleaning the toilets, then for sure AI won't replace you anytime soon, and you have a bright future.

I don't believe OP knows the definition of weird.

Intel historically lowballs prospective talent. They hope the prospect takes the first offer ("because they probably have a 100 people lined up for the job"), but are willing to counteroffer if the prospect wants to negotiate.

Never take the first offer or you'll be chasing a carrot for the rest of your career.

A.I. can do that now so good luck in your new career. As long as it lasts.

To me, cleaning someones shoes would be a menial task done by an underling so they wouldn't be as good as someone qualified for the job that was advertised. Not criticizing you it was just a phrase I had never heard and it didn't seem to fit your statement.

IMO, there are far greater signs that Intel is tanking.
