Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

No real leadership and everyone feels it

Our team is a mess because no one is keeping things in line. Personal drama takes over, but we still scramble to meet goals by working extra hours just to stay off the radar. People are tense, worried about job security, and it is draining to walk into this every morning. Proper management could fix so much, but no one steps up.

@92b Absolutely can relate to this 100%. I went from working one LOB at the beginning of this year and now up to 8 different states. And most of them are for OT "when allowed" because they are so far behind, and their "vendors" and BOTS keep sc--wing up the claims. But hey who am I? They don't listen and they don't care. Upper just wants their bonus and not to have their boss on their a-s. No, we don't get recognition, and I can't stand that they get a bonus for the work we do. I mean I no longer get a bonus, PFP or KCA since 2023 and they keep pushing for more than 100%. No raises either? No equity adjustments for working products from other states? They absolutely do not value any of us. No worries though - I had a meeting with my sup and maybe it was a Freudian slip but this person said "they are just trying to keep us busy because they have "no work". My best guess its all off shore or H1B. Pretty sure that means our days are numbered even quicker than before.

There is nothing anyone can do. If you report it, you will get treated worse. Just a bunch of sycophants who get their way. People have been complaining for years, just narcissist and sociopath managers who voices get heard. This doesn’t apply to all leaders, I see really good managers. Just not enough of them to make a difference.

You should not have to work extra hours or through your lunch just to meet the unreal metrics. Something is seriously wrong with the expectations put upon the people who work production. All so management gets their bonus. Most non-management employees don’t have a chance to get acknowledged much less a bonus. So tired of certain team members getting easy reports to work while others get the cr-p. No wonder some have low productivity, especially when working unfamiliar plans that were thrown to them.

@hw If you speak up, you will be treated worse. My people leader advised the team that she will know who speaks up in skip level meetings, surveys, and to HR. She has definitely shown the team how much power she has. Just do your best and let the sociopaths look good to get their bonuses. If not, you’re right… you’re the one who has to leave the company.

@42t They get a bonus from the work the team does, not the work they’re doing.

It definitely does make a difference. I’m not outing anyone but I am pretty sure my people leader is away from the computer and just uses teams on their phone to respond at least half of the time. I feel like there’s no true leadership and the rules apply to who they want them to and not just everyone across the board. If I had other options I’d be gone by now.

Don’t waste your energy filing complaints with HR about management. In many cases, it won’t lead to real change. Sometimes, the best move is to pack your bags, cut your losses, and move on.

Someone I knew reported their manager to HR for harassment. After all the back-and-forth, they were told to either learn to deal with it or leave. They chose to walk away—and honestly, it was probably for the best. The manager is still a manager at Centene.

I’ve had bad leadership and incredible leadership at Centene. It truly does make all the difference.

the more I read these posts the more I think centene is the tale of two companies. It shouldn't be that way, but there are departments in this company, especially at the market plans that are thriving and treat each other with respect. Don't settle for bad leadership. Voice your concerns and leave if they're not addressed to another opportunity. If you're stuck, work with your leader to find out what they need to make things better.

I've always heard corporate has a ton of turn over even before SL.
