I'm happy that the latest layoffs are in South Africa and not here. It's good to hear somebody else is getting hit for a change.

@gp Your comment sounds like white fatigue, but it’s not, you’re abusing the concept. White fatigue is important because it helps people acknowledge their feelings. Feeling tired or overwhelmed by conversations touching race isn't inherently wrong. But when a space is created where conversations around it could happen, it does not make it okay to shut down, that's an abuse of your relative privilege. It's like showing up to a support group just to say, "I don't want to hear this". The subtext wasn’t about race, yet you successfully turned it into that because of how embedded those themes are in you. Layoffs happening “elsewhere” = white guilt, apparently.

Here's how you redeem yourself. If you are white, move to a sanctuary city. Take in South African young men to your home and let them marry your daughters and take your wife, car, ect. Then...wait...this is the best part. Shove money onto a debit card for them monthly for an indefinite period of time. As for you? You just sit there and be shameful for what you are and what you have, okay? Just sit there in self hate because its fashionable.
