@1gx Typically RIF’s are not handed down by HR, and they (RIF’s) are NOT performance related. It’s all about protecting the large stakeholders’ interests. Directors are responsible for providing a cost savings, and the mission to layoff employees is handed down to the department managers to make the ultimate decisions on whom is sacrificed for the sake of satisfying the big investors.
RIF is not based on performance necessarily. I was riffed a couple of years ago. I knew 9 block of others at same level. I had been in block 2 for previous years. Management are told to save a certain amount of dollars and/or get rid of a certain number of heads. HR have to tell you it’s performance related.
The RIFs are never about performance at Honeywell. It's all about immediate cost cutting even if the people they push out cost the company in the long term because of the lost knowledge, talent and expertise. I have seen them lose millions/entire business unit success because of the people they selected for RIF.
Honeywell be be fair. The RIF will be based on performance alone. Not how much you make or how old you are or who you know in upper management.
I have full confidence in the process.
