Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

I've never been a part of a more confusing, meaningless, awful meeting.

There were recent layoffs and the only explanation was "streamlining" without any explanation of the actual business strategy around it (if there was one).

Managing committee low scores were blamed on middle managers when it's literally his score as the leadership team to contend with.

Recognition only means Best in Us cards when people literally said career development, salary, and workforce strategy.

We're supposed to define our own roles.

If we want to grow we should learn other disciplines but if we want to be a leader we should specialize?

Constant mention of mystery open roles coming after layoffs with zero explanation of what they are and what the business strategy for them is. Almost veiled threat that we should all be applying for them after layoffs.

Blamed a typo on his direct reports not catching it.

Amborish is creating the most toxic, hostile department I have ever worked for. He is a complete gas lighting narcissist that sets up his team for failure. He has a team of puppet leaders under him that just agree with his ridiculous expectations out of fear of being let go. They then work their employees to death and then blame them when the projects don't meet AB's ridiculous expectations. My advice to anyone working here or thinking of joining this group, GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN or be ready to be treated like a slave. Even if you do well, he will take all the credit for himself. Not sure what they were thinking bringing this fool on to lead this department.

U.S. Bank EACX employee here. MgmtGroupMmeetings within recent year have turned confusing with multiple strategy shifts.
Given one day termination on August 21st.
Was not able to turnover active work.
Manager would not review layoff strategy and/or others impacted (robotic/secretive).
Know of 4 others from private calls.
All four age +55 years.
Years with USB: 35, 30, 15, 5.
Core values seem to have shifted since UB and Andy transition.
Glad to have worked with USB but disappointing exit to say the least. ;-)

Amborish has created the most toxic work culture I've ever seen in my 30-year career. He purposely sets people up to fail so he can have an excuse to yell and belittle them. He blatantly lies and has no shame stepping all over his peers and his employees. He treats his org like his personal sweat shop. He is beyond disrespectful and condescending. Literally every assignment is defcon 1. All of his business partners can't stand working with him and are pretty openly vocal about it, but he has such an inflated ego, he'll never see it. Toxic to the max

@d2 He thought it was a flex that the response numbers went up. It went up because everyone wanted him to know how badly he was doing. The actual numbers where it mattered were terrible. What an id--t.

One of the worst leaders I’ve encountered in my 15-year career is AB. He has no clarity on what he wants. When scores are low, he shifts the blame onto managers and employees. But when the scores look good, he claims all the credit. And whenever he’s caught without an answer, his default response is, “That’s an interesting question” — which he repeated at least ten times in yesterday’s town hall.

I believe Amborish was picked for the role because he asked for less pay. Michael's only criteria right now is less cost. Amborish is totally narcissistic and self obsessed with himself so much that he blames everything on the middle managers. But i blame the middle leaders also to not have a spine.

All of this. After the first few minutes, I just kept the meeting open but turned the volume all the way down because I couldn’t handle listening to the garbage being spewed. Amborish is a pathetic excuse for a “leader” just like his manager. At this point I’m just focusing on keeping my head down, collecting a paycheck, and hoping they lay me off next so I can collect severance.

(Amborish’s little freak out about the typo was utterly bizarre. He could have just said, “That was a mistake, it should have been X. Thanks for catching it.” Instead of obsessing over all the people he thought should have pointed it out to him.)
