Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

About time

Minneapolis-based Target said CEO Brian Cornell, who has led the company for 11 years, would step down on Feb. 1. The board of directors chose Chief Operating Officer Michael Fiddelke, a 20-year Target veteran, to succeed him.

What a joke. The change doesn’t happen til February and Brian stays on as chairman. Can the board and the c suite be more tone deaf?

Fid was Brian’s right hand man so do not expect anything different. Shareholders were right to insist on outside talent. Amazon and Costco will continue to grow and steal market share because they are revolutionary and adapt to consumer demands. Target thinks their magic will automatically bring customers back. The end is near. Sad times.

@ah He doesn’t need to be a merchandising visionary, he just needs to have the right people in place to help Target return to form.

@ap Ummm, that particular tongue in cheek Satanic design was never available at Target. It was part of a collection of his own sold to adults outside of TGT and never offered to the chain. The designs that ended up for sale were of a more neutral tone, with the phrases “Cure transphobia, not trans people,” “We belong everywhere,” and “Too qu--r for here.”

@ad For someone who lambasts the ones "watching sitcoms all day", you sure seem to spend a lot of time on here. Get to work!!!

Fidelke is a finance person. TGT needs a merchandising visionary.
