Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Crushed by impossible deadlines

Deadlines keep shrinking and it feels like no one cares that the work is impossible to finish on time. I am completely drained trying to keep up, but quitting is not an option right now for more than one reason, including the job market. How do you handle bosses who just keep pushing impossible timelines?

Do the most important parts of your job that can be accomplished during a reasonable work week, and do them well. Be clear and honest about the things that are outstanding/in process due to other priorities that have come up.

Offshoring has been a mess from the CX perspective with no awareness or acknowledgement from senior leaders that perhaps it isn’t going well. Customers frequently get caught in doom loops with one area of the bank not aware of what another area is doing. For a bank that wants to grow organically and deepen relationships, I don’t see how this type of experience makes a customer want to stick around.

Bank and the affiliated entities are not growing fast enough to support proper staffing of the business lines, such that the work can be completed timely, efficiently and in a manner suitable for customers, regulators and risk analysis. The desire to push the support for the U.S. market to lower cost jurisdictions overseas has destroyed efficiency, created unacceptable customer experiences and triggered the slide into the zone of mediocrity, further compounding the lack of growth since the customers, merchants, cardholders, borrowers and to a certain extent the shareholders have better options where their financial services don't get hung up in the inefficiency and the mediocrity which permeates every business line at the bank, given the incredible work load placed on too few talented and experienced employees.

I just do enough to not get fired. It’s impossible to do work of 2 people, not going to ki-l myself to meet impossible deadlines
