Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Caught up in the RIF - what's the true story on Non-Compete?

I'm done with this place (not by choice) but that's okay - I am ready to move on. Anybody know the true story if we have a non-compete, how it works, etc.? Any details would be greatly appreciated. I see so many people go to direct competitors and/or partners. I don't want to be sued for doing work for O customers and having some non-compete clause.

The FTC is appealing the court order blocking the nationwide ban, but will deal with individual cases. Many states have complete bans, and in general non-competes cannot be enforced after layoffs.

Why are you worried about a non compete. They didn’t worry about you. Go work for whoever you want.

Non-competes are not enforceable in most states. If you are worried, don't tell anyone where you are going and don't update your LinkedIn for a year.

That may depend on the state. California non-competes are unenforceable.

There is no non-compete for product companies.
