Thread regarding Open Text Corp. layoffs

They're setting us up for failure

Upper management keeps swinging the cost-cutting hammer instead of finding smarter solutions. It's easier, I guess. But in doing that, they create extra work for the rest of us and make it look like we’re not pulling our weight, even though we’re doing everything we can. We can't win.

@hm Fyi. Competitors have no interest here. Opentext management and board is doing a great job at value destruction. Disgruntled ex-employees. Bingo !! Guess who make such a large number of disgruntled ex-employees who have a lot of free time while looking for a new job. So until I get a new job, I will getting my Opentext updates here.

@j0 , Remember, Mark. You too are no longer an Opentext.
First shock, then denial. I can't wait till you get to the next stages. Reap what you sow.

@hm , you here again, Mark. Guess you have more free time now. You can tell us how hard it is being a CEO. Guess it must be really hard work to put OT in such a bad state. Do get AI to help you write a book on how you would have fix up OT if you had remained the CEO.
Or we can just get AI CEO to make the same mistakes for less remuneration.

At least the first reply was something thoughtful. The hate filled just leave responses are clearly a competitor or disgruntled ex employee. Such a waste. Crazy that the remaining management has not reinvented the company and changed 14 years of decisions in a week. Too bad the anonymous poster saying just leave isn’t in charge. Clearly being a CEO is easy. Get a life seriously you u happy pos.

The problem is how do you motivate employees (and customers) when all the products are mature and in maintenance mode. There isn’t anything new, exciting or novel. Putting marketing spin on things is just putting more pressure on sales and development to come up with stuff that is not there. We should embrace having mature products and talk about vs. trying to be something we aren’t. Now that Mark is gone the messaging needs to change and legacy ELT not willing to change need to go too. Truth and Honesty always prevails in the end. I want to play professional baseball, but am self aware enough to know that I won’t go beyond my senior softball league.

This is why you should just leave. Leave upper management holding the bag.
