There have been rumors going around about more layoffs coming in the first two weeks of September. Anything new on that front? September is around the corner, and I haven’t heard much for the past few days. Anyone have any new info? Were any of the rumors confirmed?

layoffs happening now.
Any updates regarding layoffs re orgs ?
This week or next week?
@1e9 do we know which departments?
Confirmed. First hand, direct knowledge.
Sept/October/November. Merry Holidays…
Was your coworker actually granted FLMA/Disability and they kept them as an employee until it ran out and then laid them off or did the coworker just want an extra couple of weeks of paperwork games before the company finalized the layoff?
They can lay you off during FLMA and/ or while on short or long term disability. It does not prevent a company from having a reduction in force.
Fooling around and dodging sending in FLMA/disability paperwork if you don't have a qualifing circumstance seems like a great way to be labeled not eligible for rehire. Also if you don't submit the FLMA/disability paperwork timely (not sure of the time frame) they can fire you for job abandonment. (I have seen that happen before)
Just throwing that out there for anyone that wouldn't have a circumstance or doctor willing to complete the forms quickly.
If someone hasn't been here long enough for severance to be all that helpful and was willing to gamble, ummm it would be interesting to see how it played out.
@r9 you are correct. Having taken both medical and FMLA leave, they are most definitely paid, but not at the full salary. I believe I was paid 66% of my total take home pay
@r8 FMLA and medical leave are PAID, not unpaid
FMLA and medical leave can be extended indefinitely if there’s a valid reason. I think this is a smart approach because it provides more time to explore other opportunities while still receiving some income
@n5
All this would do is protect your job while you're on an unpaid leave. As soon as your leave is over, your job is terminated. What purpose does this serve other than watch the HR staff roll their eyes at you?
If a meeting invite lands in your inbox with the phrase “Please prioritize this meeting,” treat it like a smoke alarm. Don’t open it. Just initiate your FMLA or medical leave paperwork and inform HR you’ll be unavailable—indefinitely.
One of my sharpest team members did exactly this. From an HR standpoint, once the leave is in motion, they’re obligated to let it run its course. Sometimes the smartest move is knowing when to step back before the fire starts.
There is a big one coming for sure. September or maybe end of this month.
Someone in HR told me that Centene has standardized into quarterly layoff cycles. There are constant layoffs in the works all the time, and they just get slotted into the next quarterly cycle.
Multiple rounds through the end of the year. This should not be a surprise.
My area has been asked recently to provide written documentation of everything each individual is working on. This has just come up in the last few weeks. So there is a layoff coming soon.
@fc can you share what department? What area?
@OP just got an email about reorg and people will be moved around to different teams and different people leaders. It’s happening in the next few days.
@ew I am on the Medicare Appeals team if that helps
@en I think the question is what positions are they being trained for that are being outsourced? IT? Claims Operations such as processing and adjustments? Configuration? Or any other you can think of ....I already know that claims adjustments and FTC are being shipped offshore and have been for over a year now........
@d4 NTT Data is a company Centene is using to outsource work. They are in India and in my department they have people trained and working as of now and more to come.
What is NTT?
I interviewed someone back in January who was hired along with several others for a new team and within a few months the powers that be decided they didn’t need that team and announced layoffs. Pathetic to spend so much effort sourcing for roles, hiring, directing and then saying eh nevermind . I will never seek employment at this place.
@cc Just waiting for that call for a meeting to tell me this will be your last day.
@ca Mine is doing the same thing and making us essentially correct the work coming from the NTT workers.
It really is a morale ki-ler.
@c7 unfortunately in my department the leadership has coworkers helping the NTT workers get better. The company does not care about performance they care about saving money. I trust NOBODY unfortunately
I haven't heard anything, but that's unfortunately normal. No one is aware of anything happening until it happens :-/
Some folks are a bit suspicious of more and more work being allocated to NTT despite the lackluster results we've been seeing, but nothing more than that.
