Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

I still have sour grapes about this place

It bothers some people here that those who left are still complaining about the company. I left Allstate a few months ago and still have sour grapes about this workplace because I still can't forget or recover from all the stress I experienced here.

I myself wonder how much time is needed to recover!? I thought I would forget about Allstate as soon as I gave notice, but no, it takes much longer for a person to find relief somewhere else, because this place is pure toxicity.

Gone from claims 8 years. Although I have long since recovered from the abuse this company throws at some people, some very good people, I will not forget the treatment. I still foster anger at the way a great successful company was turned into a back stabbing, degrading and cultish environment. I point the finger for that transition at Tom Wilson. The loser brought in from Sears to destroy its agency force and strip the employees of their self respect and benefits. Interestingly enough State Farm has a very happy agency force and remains #1 nationally. Not to leave anyone out how about all those "leaders" who could not find the courage beyond their own paychecks to stand up to any of it.

It’s a toxic environment particularly in claims. The leadership starting at the RCL level quite honestly isn’t trustworthy. I had experienced this in several offices. As much as they’ll act like they care, everyone is out to save themself and could care less about you, particularly when you’re not in a physical office with that person. Going fully remote may have saved on real estate but it’s created an environment where it’s become very easy to back stab employees.

I left Allstate earlier this year. It’s a screwed up and poorly run company but you have to turn the chapter…..life’s too short to carry too much negativity after you leave!

Corporate life is not good. It’s a good paycheck and that is it. Trouble is, we put too much of our heart and souls into this place. That’s where the trouble starts. Remember it’s just a job. You don’t work for yourself. You work for corporate America. It is not a family. Stay awake. Don’t get brainwashed as it will take years to deprogram if you do. Best advice is to work for yourself if you can. At minimum, find a company that is good. Allstate has been awful since they went to a public traded company years ago. They lie and say anything to brainwash the employees into thinking they are a decent place to work. If I had the guts to leave I would.

I was laid off from AIG in 2010. I’m still resentful. Not as much as I used to be, but it’s still there and still hurts to talk about!

PTSD is a result of trauma period. Going through years of things going well then suddenly ABUSED by leadership is a strategy to stick you into jumping ship. Yes it's surreal that a person would be mistreated when they've always done a good job. The strategy is to belittle you, make you question your worth...all lies! The evil is coming from the top and bleeding down on leaders. Leaders are selling their souls to this place for a few dollars...well hello..if you punish your employees and they leave, what do you think is going to happen to you? We all have a number unless you're way up in the food chain. Life shouldn't be this painful. Be GLAD you're already gone from this he-l. Time will heal all wounds. You're going to be ok.

The PTSD of the abusive and borderline criminal treatment of its employees is real. I know several who got let go in 2020 who still struggle with trust with their new companies for what they went through at Allstate. One even had to go to counseling due to what Allstate did to them. I am still here but looking to soon leave the twisted mind games and abusive leadership here. It is sick and vile what this company does to its employees.

It’s been over 8 months since I jumped ship. For real I only recently noticed I don’t think about Allstate all the time. It is hard to recover from this kind of abuse. There is hope - hang in there.
And all you jerks who are being needlessly mean, well, you know where you can go!

You can be bitter or you can be better. Move on and take joy in your new position outside the Allstate universe. Good luck in your new endeavor.
