Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

I’m struggling to find the drive to look for a new role

The thought of starting the whole search process over again is exhausting. I want to leave, I really do, but having to interview at my age is extremely daunting. I'm honestly not sure how to get over it.

Ask for a package and get out.

I have just had my first phone interview and In person interview this week. My first in over two decades. It was daunting thinking about having to do that again and make a resume. You will get through it. Look for interview tips on TikTok, they actually helped me and calmed my nerves a bit. Just remember it’s just a polite conversation and the interviewer is probably nervous a bit also. Wait for layoff if you can, that’s what I did. My severance package will last quite a bit and that allows me to not be on full on find a job now panic mode. I can take a breather/mental break for a bit. Your Severance though will depend on how many years you have been there to really decide how worth it is to hold out for it, if ya can.

Is there an internal hiring freeze?

Trust me, it's better to be proactive and plan your own exit instead of having it planned for you.

The best time is now, before they lay you off, because you currently have negotiating power are less desperate.

My partner felt the same way about a job they hated and when I helped them find another one they got paid more and had way less stress. You'll look back and wonder why you didnt due it sooner! (the answer is fear of the unknown; dont let the fear win).
