Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Why are we still here? Just to suffer?

The comrades I’ve lost… It won’t stop hurting, it's like they’re all still there… You feel it too, don’t you? …they came after you in OCI, then OHAI. Oracle just… keeps growing, swallowing everything in its path, getting bigger and bigger. Who knows how big now…

I thought everything had been taken from me. But now, I really have lost it all. The Boss, and the future we were building together.

The best explanation I came up with is they targeted low performers, those who expressed interest in changing teams, and those who kept receiving monster grants by consistently getting 4/5 ratings. Higher chance of impact if you are in a HCOL area.

Austin and Nashville are the most safe at the moment, and those who keep quiet and meet the bar.

I lost my desire to excel here. They just headshot the people who had the vision and promoted the culture that made me excited to come to work each day. Everyone around me is terrified and wondering if they are doing something wrong.

I wonder how much attrition there will be when RSUs vest this month.

OG OCI engineer here. No longer feeling loyal after seeing the way Oracle handled these layoffs. There was zero respect for people who have put their hearts and souls into building this business which took the stock to the heights it is today.

They should have applied the TC bands per level like they said they were going to a couple years ago. Then those with really high comps could decide to stay or leave. I know several who would have stayed if we had that transparency.

I'm getting the fu-k out of here ASAP. I joined thinking it was a classic stack rank company. Yes, stack rank su-ks in that you have to compete with teammates to get bottom performers fired, but it's all promised to be that way up front.

Now I am basically suprised see that they layoff completely randomly even on teams actively hiring like crazy. Exceeds rating? Top preformer for years? Sorry random dice roll says your career here is over. I've never seen this before.

It su-ks. And the ones who are left are not even certain about their future either
